The Office of the Vice-President Some vice-presidents maintain their offices in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, across the street from the White House, along with many other officials of the president's top staff. (Conversely, some presidents, such as Richard Nixon, have maintained an office of their own in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.) Recent vice-presidents have been more closely involved in the day-to-day functions of the West Wing. The VP also has his own West Wing secretary in an adjoining room. The map displayed behind the vice-president's desk is "the Route taken by Samuel Fletcher Cheney, Captain 21st Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry from 1861 to 1865."
